3News reports that Pastor Kete pleaded guilty to defiling the daughter of his friend of 25 years. At a recent court hearing, prosecutor Kofi Atimbiri said the accused called the victim to his room on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. The accused and the victim’s father, were friends who lived in a single room in a mission house of their church. The pastor told an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Magistrate Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku that his action was the work of the devil and does not know what came over him. After listening to his plea, the court sentenced Pastor Vincent Kete to 20 years in prison with hard labour.

According to Dailypost, One Dr. Isaac Ojukwu has set himself ablaze in a rented hotel apartment in Nyanya, Abuja. The incident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday. An Anambra State indigene and father of five, 49-year-old Tochukwu Nwafor, has been nabbed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for ingesting 73 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.699kg. According to the agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the suspect was on his way to Dubai, when he was nabbed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja during a routine check on the passengers of an Ethiopian Airline flight. NDLEA commander at the airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, said that when the suspect was discovered to have ingested drugs, he was put on observation. “While under observation, he excreted 73 wraps of cocaine that weighed 1.699kgs” Hamisu stated. Nwafor said he was offered N1.5m to smuggle the drugs to Dubai. According to his statement, he lives in Lagos with his wife and five children and got involved in the drug smuggling business because of economic hardship. “I thought it would be easy to go undetected,” Nwafor said. A -19 -year -old man, Ogunlusi Abass, on Friday was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrates’ court in Osun State for stealing dry fish and seven pieces of noodles, with a tin of three crown milk. The police prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that Abass committed the offence on January 28, 2017. According to him, the stolen items belonged to one Rasheed Shakirat of Onibueja area of Osogbo. He said Abass also stole 3 beverages and 3 pieces of golden Penny semovita, valued at N4,630. He explained that the offence committed by Abass were contrary to and punishable under section 411 and section 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II. Laws of Osun State of Nigeria; 2002. A 18-month-old baby boy has died after his own mother ‘accidentally’ served him kerosene as water in Benin City. The tragedy occurred at Iguma Street, Off Orewere Street, Off Medical Stores Road, Benin City, about 10am, last Tuesday. It was leant that the victim, Isreal Buhari had complained to his mother, a hired kerosene seller, that he was thirsty when the woman ‘inadventedly’ gave him kerosene stored in a beverage can, to drink. The child, the only boy of four children, was said to have on first gulp immediately spat out the remaining content in his mouth before his mother realized the unforgettable ‘mistake’. Few minutes after ingesting the substance, the little child’s eyes were said to have turned pure white as he screamed uncontrollably. More accounts have emerged on the events leading to the crash of a 59-passenger luxury bus on its way from Aba, Abia State, which plunged into a canal at Owode Elede, Lagos, killing three passengers and injuring 23 others. A passenger in the bus, Kenneth Ohai, said as the bus hit the median around 3am on Friday morning and veered off the road, nosediving into the canal in the process, the child his co-passenger was carrying on her lap bounced off the window and fell into the water. He said the woman immediately dived out of the window to save her baby. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed to Punch that the unidentified woman and her child were unharmed, as they were both rescued after.
